About
EWB partners with communities in developing countries to implement sustainable long-term solutions. These projects
heavily involve education and health to assure projects can remain functional for years to come. Students from all
majors develop practical knowledge in their fields while gaining valuable leadership skills and becoming internationally responsible
professionals. We have 5 core values.
Education
EWB is seriously committed to education in all aspects of it’s mission. We educate the community on health and
project upkeep. We also educate students, through speakers at meetings and real-world project experience.
>>
Sustainability
Our projects are designed with long-term sustainability in mind. This means using appropriate technology and local
materials to ensure the project will still be benefitting the community decades from now.
>>
Culture
Our Culture committee evaluates projects for cultural appropriateness. They also make sure trip members are culturally
prepared and inform general members on customs and norms through speakers and events.
>>
Health
Our EWB health committee ensures that projects have a positive impact on health. This includes tracking data through
survey to monitor changes and providing educational workshops to the community on health topics.
>>
Partnership
We strive to form long-term partnerships with the communities that we work with. This includes asking for their design
input, using appropriate technology, and facilitating community ownership and upkeep.
